The 19^th monthly Reading Geek Night once again raised the bar in terms of the mixture of topics covered: an introduction to hacker spaces, the return of development-oriented talks with a discussion on CouchDB, and a long list of considerations to take into account if you’re planning on cheating on your partner.

Another mixed bag of topics in the April Reading Geek Night: this month covered technology in art at South Hill Park, successfully branching an commercial product and creating an open source one from it, and a history of mobile, from horse-drawn versions right up to modern smart phones.

The most recent Reading Geek Night contained an eclectic (as always!) mix of talks, covering open-source courseware, building custom book apps for the iPad, and an intriguing list of "things you didn’t know about wool…"

After a January hiatus due to holidays, honeymoons and some other less-worthy excuses, the globaldev team returned to the 16^th Reading Geek Night. This month’s presentations included trying to understand the differences between developers and managers, discussions on a #rdggeek Hack Day, and a webcam running on a BBC Master.

The festive and final Reading Geek Night of 2010 saw two more excellent talks: A Self-Help Manual For Cyborgs by Simon Bostock, and Hacking Kinect by Chris Alexander.

This months Reading Geek Night went from the importance of scalability, photos of space taken from a weather balloon, to 2 electronic boffins coding to their hearts content to show it is possible to get hardware and software to play …

A year on and going stronger than ever, this month saw the first birthday of Reading Geek Night celebrated with videoless video games, a geek-tastic quiz, and the audience in 3D.

With the university students back in town, this month’s busy Reading Geek Night covered a fantastically diverse mix of topics, from coding, arts programmes, cinema technology to a worldwide technology competition.

Reading Geek Night moved in to double figures this week (this was event number 10), with four main presentations covering Flash hacking, hardware, F1 racing and robotics.

Last night saw the 9th Reading Geek Night, with presentation topics covering the wide berth of seed funding programmes, photography, mobile payment technology and a product launch. As has become customary over the last few months, a number of the globaldev team were there to witness proceedings.
